Child Custody

We Will Fight for Your Children's Rights

Determining which parent gets custody of the children is one of the most important decisions divorcing couples must make. The decision will affect you and your family for years to come. When you are facing this issue, you need a lawyer you can trust to guide you through the process.

The attorneys at Gasaway, Farmer & Associates, PLLC are thoroughly familiar with Tennessee child custody law. We understand that this is a difficult issue and we are ready to fight for you. To make an appointment, please call 931-245-0077 or send us an e-mail.

Shared Parenting

In Tennessee, child custody and visitation is called shared parenting. The creation of a parenting plan sets up the time sharing of the children. The parenting plan also helps determine who the primary residential parent will be and who will be the alternate residential parent.

Currently, the trend is for equal time shared between parents; sometimes this means getting custody for alternating weeks. We can help you write the parenting plan so that your goals and the needs of your children are addressed.

We have represented military parents in custody cases, also. Many soldiers think they cannot get custody, but that is not true. Contact us if you are a soldier going through a military divorce.

Child Support

Adequate child support is crucial to the well being of your children. To determine the amount of support, the court considers the income of both parents as well as the custody arrangements. In general, the parent with more income or with less of the shared parenting time usually pays more child support. There are exceptions, however.
